Membership
The mission of the Nassau-Suffolk Coalition for the Homeless is to eliminate homelessness on Long Island and improve the lives of Long Islanders who are homeless or facing homelessness. NSCH has worked to achieve this goal through its efforts in
-
Service coordination
-
Participation in drafting Ten Year Plans to End Homelessness in Nassau and Suffolk Counties, which are inclusive, comprehensive documents that outline a successful strategy to end long-term homelessness
-
Coordination of the Continuum of Care (CoC) groups in Nassau and Suffolk Counties, which, in 2007, brought over $10 million in funds to Long Island providers of housing and services for the homeless
-
Technical assistance to organizations providing housing and services to the homeless and those at risk of homelessness
-
Homeless Management Information System
-
Collection and distribution of housewares, food, furniture, clothing, coats, toiletries, toys and gifts for homeless, at risk and/or newly housed individuals and families
These activities would not have been possible without the support of our members. As a paid member, your organization will receive a variety of benefits and services, including access to the Coalition’s email network, which reaches over 250 individuals at more than 150 organizations throughout Long Island; access to donated goods (furniture, clothes, toys, etc.) upon availability; and enhanced sponsorship opportunities at the Annual Keys for the Homeless Conference.
